The Tenant Bride

"The Tenant Bride" is the first of a new series to further explore my interest in the traditional "women's arts". Growing up I always had one of my grandmother's quilts on my bed - every stitch done by hand. The geometric patterns of the quilt remind me of the patterns that make up the universe. The mix of materials allowed me to play with symbols and the human desire to decode them.

New Collage on Paper

I'm busy on a lot of different series at the moment. This little owl drawing is for a solo exhibit probably early 2011.
Available for purchase.

The Red Beret

This is a BIG painting - 40"x60" or 102cm x 152cm. The blank eyes give a frozen timeless elemental feeling and the pillar-like neck and simple features suggest solidity and strength. I especially love making them larger than life. 'The Red Beret' is complete, although I may tweak it a bit...we'll see.
Available for purchase.

I Need A New Camera

I've discovered that I love taking photos of old distressed wood and rusty metal. I have an inexpensive camera meant for simple point and shoot snapshots. I'd love to upgrade to a more professional camera with a macro lens.

This is a photo of old beehive boxes.

She Looks Familiar...

I came across this painting of The Carlen Gallery by artist Ted Duncan. If you look closely, you'll see in the window a painting of a lady in a blue dress sitting on a red chair - that's one of mine! I sold it a few years ago. I love a painting within a painting...

Unfortunately The Carlen Gallery closed its doors in 2005.
